There’s something extra special about photographing a wedding at a venue that means something personal to you — and Kindred North is exactly that for me. It’s where I married my husband in 2022, and returning there to document Cara and Sky’s wedding brought it all full circle in the most beautiful way.
Cara and Sky’s day was filled with love, joy, and little touches of nostalgia that made everything feel incredibly intentional.
A Woodsy Ceremony with Baby’s Breath and Happy Tears
The ceremony took place outdoors, tucked in the wooded area behind Kindred North, where sunlight filtered through the trees and baby’s breath adorned a simple, beautiful arbor. It felt like something out of a dream — peaceful, romantic, and completely centered on the love these two share.
From the very beginning of the day, it was clear how much Cara and Sky adore each other. They did a first look before the ceremony, which not only gave them a sweet private moment, but also meant they got to spend more time together throughout the day. They were giddy, thoughtful, and so connected — the kind of couple that makes you believe in soulmates.
Classic Meets Personal Style
The color palette was unique and bold: green and black, with the bridesmaids in green dresses and the house party in purple. Cara wore a sleek gown that paired beautifully with the natural greenery around the venue, and Sky looked equally sharp. Their style was modern but full of heart, which fit the vibe of Kindred North perfectly.
One of my favorite touches was the cake topper — a sweet heirloom from the bride’s parents’ wedding cake. Details like that make a wedding feel like part of a larger legacy of love.
Meaningful Moments That Last
There were so many heartfelt moments throughout the day, but one that stood out was a quiet, emotional moment between Sky and his mom. You could feel the depth of their bond, and capturing those kinds of connections is one of the things I treasure most about being a wedding photographer.
We also took portraits in front of the big hydrangea bush at the back of the venue — one of my favorite spots at Kindred North. The soft blooms, the light, and the joy these two carried made for some of the dreamiest photos.
