As a wedding photographer based in Northwest Arkansas, I love when my job takes me on little adventures outside my usual area. While most of my weddings are in places like Bentonville, Rogers, and Fayetteville, I also occasionally travel to nearby destinations like Springfield and Branson, Missouri. So when Hallie and Boss asked me to capture their wedding at The Sterling Event Center in Joplin, Missouri, I couldn’t have been more excited!

Hallie and Boss’s wedding on March 8, 2025, was filled with color, love, and an abundance of fun. Their wedding color palette was a bold and playful mix of pink, red, and orange, perfectly reflecting their vibrant personalities. The day was all about keeping things light, happy, and stress-free — exactly how they wanted it.

How Hallie & Boss Met

Before we get into all the wedding day details, I have to share a bit about how Hallie and Boss met because it’s the sweetest story. Hallie became best friends with Boss’s sister in college. One day, Hallie was invited to a family event and that’s where she met Boss. It didn’t take long for them to hit it off, and the rest is history. Now here they were, on their wedding day, about to become husband and wife!

The Wedding Morning

The day started with me and my second shooter arriving at The Sterling Event Center around 12:30 PM. This venue is incredible. It has such a modern and industrial vibe with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, brick walls, and sleek design elements. It’s one of those venues that can easily be dressed up or down, and it was absolutely perfect for Hallie and Boss’s wedding.

We started the day by capturing some layflat details like Hallie’s invitation suite, jewelry, bouquet, rings, and shoes. My second shooter focused on getting some venue shots, capturing the essence of the space before all the guests arrived. This part of the day is always so special because it sets the tone for the rest of the story.

Getting Ready Moments

At 12:30, we also popped in to capture the guys having their “game day” moment. Boss and his groomsmen were relaxed and having fun, hyping each other up for the big day. It’s always so fun capturing these candid moments — the jokes, the high-fives, and the excitement building up.

Meanwhile, Hallie and her girls were upstairs in matching pink pajamas, getting their hair and makeup done. One of the sweetest moments was when Hallie took a few photos with her brother’s girlfriend, which was such a sweet touch of inclusion.

By 12:50, it was time for Hallie to get into her dress with the help of her mom, Shelley. This was such an emotional moment, and I could see the joy in Shelley’s eyes as she helped her daughter get ready for one of the most important days of her life.

Special First Looks

At 1:15, we captured the first look with Hallie and her dad upstairs. This moment was filled with so much emotion as her dad turned around and saw his little girl in her wedding dress. Tears were shed, hugs were given, and it was one of those moments that everyone will remember forever.

At 1:25, Boss had his moment with his mom, Kim, as she pinned his boutonniere. After that, we took some solo portraits of Boss, capturing his handsome smile and sharp suit. He was more than ready to see Hallie!

Then came the couple’s first look at 1:35. This was such a precious moment. Hallie and Boss opted to exchange letters and gifts during this time, which made it even more special. I love when couples choose to do a first look because it gives them a few private moments together before the whirlwind of the day begins.

The Ceremony

By 4:00, it was time for the ceremony. The Sterling Event Center has a beautiful brick indoor exterior for ceremonies. Hallie and Boss’s ceremony was heartfelt and full of love. Their vows were personal and touching, and you could feel the love in the air.

The Reception

After the ceremony, we moved to the reception space inside another part of the building, which was beautifully decorated with pink, red, and orange florals. It was such a unique and fun color palette that really brought the space to life.

The evening was filled with sweet moments — first dances, toasts, and lots of laughter. One of my favorite moments was when we snuck out of the ceremony for portraits in a winter field. The light was perfect, and Hallie and Boss were absolutely glowing.

The night wrapped up with a fun streamer send-off around 8:20. Even though it was a “fake send-off” (so they could keep the party going), it was still magical and made for some stunning photos.

Final Thoughts

Hallie and Boss’s wedding day was everything they hoped for — happy, fun, and stress-free. It was such an honor to capture their day and tell their story through my lens.
